[Podcast Rig] – Ice And the Face

See what equipment they use to run their hilarious show!

Tell us about your show

Ice and The Face is Rick and Sarah, respectively. It is a nsfw dystopian comedy podcast released once a week for your ear-holes to soak up and expel accordingly. We dive deep into the ridiculous shit happening in the world today and laugh heartily at all of its absurdity as it burns to the ground. We subscribe to our one rule, hilarity over feelings! You can find our shows on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and Libsyn, for free. You can also follow us on Twitter and Facebook for updates.

What kind of mic(s) do you use? Any reason why?

1. Audio-Technica Cardioid Condenser Microphone

2. Shure SM57

3. Shure SM58 – After testing several configurations, based on the space we were working with when we started, we felt each microphone sounded professional and clear when recorded, so obviously that is step one. That said, we stuck with using all three different models because we felt that each one gave every voice on the show an extra level of personality and nuance. Now, we sort of view the sound as something all our own.

Do you use a mixer? If so, what’s the model?

A Tascam 2488 Neo

Any other equipment? And how is it used to run the show?

JVC HA-RX700 Headphones Both hosts where them to monitor mic levels. They are the best headphones…ever.

Any advice for others getting started?

Yes… remember, for the most part, no one cares who you are. Get to what you’re there to do as immediately as possible and do it the best you possibly can so your listeners have something and someone to care about. Also, sound quality and pacing are equally important. Potential listeners are not going to struggle to hear you or slog through your “one bad show” even if you actually are good. You don’t need a million dollars to sound great anymore, so take a few minutes to learn some tricks on YouTube. Also, get your branding correct right out the gate. The longer you practice consistency, the better.
